Final Trailer

Evaluation :

Whilst being given the opportunity to resubmit this assignment I have found certain elements difficult to complete and others a good opportunity to learn how the 3D Max software works. In particular I found trying to get the head to move very hard to do and took the decision not to include it in trailer. The overall trailer has shown the bullet travelling from the gun through the air to the bullet causing it to shatter. The twist being that Diamonds are the hardest material in the world and should have deflected the bullet but instead the diamond was shattered. The inclusion of the Theme Music adds more atmosphere to the trailer.

It has been a worthwhile challenge.

Finishing the Assignment

Sunday 24th July.

I'm finalising the 3D animation and detailing my blog. This assignment has proved to be very difficult even on the second attempt. I've managed to learn a lot more and become more efficient at using the software.

Collation of Images

Saturday July 23rd:

I've started to pull all the 3D model images together. I'm struggling with the image of the head but the Diamond and Bullet look good. I've downloaded 'Diamonds are Forever' sung by Shirley Bassey to add a more depth to the finishe trailer.

Starting to finish Diamond Image

Thursday 2oth July :

I've finished the diamond. It's not quite perfect but I believe it is adequate at this stage. With more time I could improve the image.

Starting 3D modelling

Wednesday 19th July:

I've started to use the 3D Max modelling software to create a gun, diamond and bullet.

Creation of Mood and research board

Tuesday 18th July;

I've located images of Diamonds are Forever and today I'm starting to make the Mood and Research board.

Resubmission of 3D Modelling Animation

Monday 17th July

I revisted the original approach and have decided to do 'Diamonds are Forever' for James Bond. I've started to look on the internet for images and ideas.

Evaluation

 Evaluation

This particular module has been difficult to complete and illustrates the complexity of 3D animation modelling. I encountered problems with the instructions to request the snake element to move across the screen along with the construction of the 3D skull. I will need to explore tutorials on 3D animation further to gain a better understanding on programming. To 'get around' the issue with the skull I created a face which, although not ideal, has allowed me to illustrate other elements within the animation. The grass effect has come through very well although it may have benefited from a little bit more texture.

3D animation is very time consuming but once the individual elements are created the collation of the components does give satisfaction to the finished product.

With hindsight and more time I'm sure that the quality of this project could be enhanced.

Grass effects

I obtained this using the 'Modify effect tool' using a fur and hair technique. I started with a brown plane then I chose the effect to make the grass look real. I added more detail to the grass including changing the colour to green. I also improved the texture of the grass by varying its length. I proceeded to 'render' the image which took 2 hours to complete.... Not too sure why this was the case?

bounce balls

I drew one sphere and copied and placed two further images in different places. I clicked on 'Autokey' then placed the spheres in the positions where I wanted them to bounce. I then highlighted on the timeframe the position where I wanted them to bounce along to. Using the 'drop sheet' I then smoothed out the action.

leaf

Above is my attempt at creating a leaf. It appears to be very realistic. Using the 3D Max software I created this image using the edit poly function. This project took about 4 hours to complete.

research board

Building

I created this whilst experimenting with 3D Max software shapes.... It was a useful time as it allowed me to see what I could do and also my limitations

apple

I attempted to create an image of an apple. To some extent it was successful but I struggled with creating the correct texture. The lighting was effective.

Mood board

These images are the ones that I will be using for my final 3D animation 30 second trailer. I couldn't find an older Hairspray tin and had to use an image from a modern supply. The snake and skull images may be tricky to animate however the bullets and gun may be easier.. I have used these images as they are very representative of the James Bond film 'Live and Let Die'

Final image models to be in Final design for 30 secs trailar

These are some of the items I'm going to use in my 30secs trailer of 'Live and let die'. I will need to do further research on the animation of the skull to try an incorporate it into my trailer.

Shapes

I explored tutorials on 'You Tube' to learn how to use lighting effectively and to make the image as real as possible.

At first it was tricky but I believe I have reached a good level of competence with this aspect of 3D Max.

Pumpkin

I experimented with lighting and fog effect. I also changed the 'Plane' to get the image as real as possible
